Remote Viewing Wildlife
To get wildlife monitoring started on Volcan Mountain Foundation's Nature Center and Sky Island properties six remote trail cameras were placed along trails and in different habitat areas like the riparian zone of the lower Nature Center property.
Images captured so far have been of bobcat, mountain lion, fox, coyote, deer, turkey, racoon, opposum and chipmunk.
Thanks to wonderful VMF volunteers Sheana Fry and Kris Jacobsen (also a new board member) who have have been instrumental in getting the wildlife imagint program up and running. Eventually we hope to get enough images to have a nature video to share at the Nature Center building Also on our wish list is to have a future research project on the mountain and perhaps a transect too. This is only the beginning!
