Hike All The Way Across The Santa Ysabel Preserve

Date:
Saturday, November 19, 2016 - 9:00am

Saturday, November 19th at 9:00 am join San Diego County Park Attendant Bill Augustus on a hike through the back trails of the Santa Ysabel East Preserve. Enjoy discussions about the history, plants and wildlife of the Preserve, while seeing places in the Preserve you don’t normally get to see.

We will meet at the Highway 79 Staging area for the Santa Ysabel East preserve. From there we will carpool to the Farmers road staging area while leaving half of the vehicles at Highway 79. We will hike from the east end of the Santa Ysabel Preserve to the west end of the preserve. We will be stopping at scenic spots along the Santa Ysabel Creek on the way.

At the end of the hike, we will car pool back up to the Farmers Staging area and pick up the vehicles we left there. This hike will include an elevation gain and loss of approximately 1500 feet in 8 miles. The total hike distance will be approximately 8 miles. Please dress in layers as the temperature will vary throughout the hike. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring plenty of water and a snack for the trail. Inclement weather will cancel this hike.

Please contact the Heise Park Ranger office for updates or more information, 760-765-4098. You can also register on the Meetup link for the event, so that you get updates if plans change due to weather.
