Volcan Mtn Back Road Hike, Saturday, September 6th at 10am
Saturday, September 6th join San Diego County Park Ranger Bret Exner up a hidden road leading to the summit of the Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve (VMWP). The road will wind through towering cedar groves, oak filled meadows and along a pristine creek. From the summit, the group will hike down the mountain via the VMWP Main trail & Five Oaks trail
Park along Farmer Road near the sign for the VMWP. From there the group will car shuttle with some of the cars to the entry point of the hidden road. When the group gets back down the mountain the group will shuttle back to get the cars left at the hidden road. Wear sturdy hiking shoes for this hike. In addition, bring water, hat, sunscreen and trail food. On this hike, there is an elevation gain of approximately 1,300 feet over the first four miles of the 8 1/2 mile hike. Please dress in layers as the tempature will vary thoughout the hike. The hike will be canceled if it rains.
