Hike the Coast to Crest Trail to Volcan Mountain, Saturday, March 10, 2018
Saturday, March 10th Experienced hikers, you've been waiting for it! Here's your chance to hike the furthest section of the Coast to Crest Trail. From Santa Ysabel, we'll hike 13 miles across two County preserves to the high point on the Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve and back down to the Hubbell Gateway. This is a strenuous, all-day hike with an elevation gain of more than 3,200 feet.
Time: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Bring: Water, snacks, lunch
Wear: Sturdy shoes and dress in layers as the temperature can change
Location: Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve (VMWP) 1209 Farmer Road, Julian, CA. Once we meet, we will arrange carpool to Santa Ysabel, leaving some cars near the Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve trailhead.
Directions: From CA-78/79 in Julian, take Main Street north for 2.2 miles (Main Street becomes Farmer Road). Turn right on Wynola Road. Go 100 yards and then take the first left which is a continuation of Farmer Road. The preserve entrance is on the right. Park on the shoulder of the road. No facilities.
